Woodstock Golf Course

Woodstock Club Crest

Course measures 5,864 meters from the White tees and is playable all year round. Many of the holes are tree lined with four holes having water as the main feature. Some of the more memorable holes are.

The signature, hole is the par-4, 7th, which measures 391 meters. Tee shot is played from an elevated tee box across a lake to an island fairway second shot is again across water to an expansive undulating green that slopes from back to front.

The Par-3 8th Measuring 170 meters from the white stakes is another hole to test the most discerning of golfers. Tee shot is played across water to a two-tiered island green.

The Par-3 11th measuring 162 meters appears relatively easy however a ball over shooting the green will be most likely in the Kilmaley river which flows gently along by the back of the green.

The three closing holes have been remarked on by members and visitors alike, "these are three of the best finishing holes as you are ever likely to encounter"

In finishing Woodstock in eight years has a maturity that belies its relatively short existence. One member summed it up aptly:-

I sit and gaze and marvel at all I see

The wondrous beginning from an embryonic state

Nurturing in the bosom of the family members

Growing b, creating its own uniqueness

And all this time, more people walk its fairways,

Marvel at its youthful vigor and the strength it will be

I for a short time had the privilege of presiding over all its

History of Woodstock

The land which Woodstock Golf Club now stands was once the farm of Christy and Sheelagh Guerin. Woodstock House was the original name of their imposing Georgian property. Hence the name Woodstock Golf Club. The property consisted of 180 acres of free draining good quality farmland on which dry stock was raised.
In 1993 Sheelagh and Christy put the wheels in motion to launch Woodstock Golf and Country club. Christy almost single handily, and with immense drive set about the Golf Club business. He immediately engaged Golf course designer Arthur Spring to lay out a course that would be up to the highest championship standards.
It was a creation beyond the expectations of many.
