County Tipperary Club Crest

The County Tipperary Golf and Country Club is built on 150 acres, designed by 1995, Ryder Cup hero Philip Walton. Philip used the natural features of woodland, parkland and the gently flowing Multeen River to create this par-72  7,164 yards, with a standard scratch off the back tees. The course is in the most beautiful of settings, and has such superb drainage the golfer has the ideal opportunity to play this championship course all year round.
Set in the heart of the Golden Vale, six miles west of the historical town of Cashel . The County Tipperary Golf and Country Club, incorporates the eighteenth century manor, Dundrum House Hotel, former seat of the Earls of Montalt. The Georgian manor, boasts 63-luxurious bedrooms, 20 self catering apartments and houses, a leisure centre with pool, the Venue Clubhouse and a highly acclaimed restaurant, while retaining its old world charm and atmosphere. County Tipperary has every comfort a golfer could want and the visitor is assured of a warm welcome here.
Co. Tipperary Golf & Country Club has an Open Singles every Monday and every Wednesday from April to October in 2014;
Dundrum House Golf has been voted Best Overall Hidden Gem in the Golfers Guide to Ireland 2014 Awards:
Co. Tipperary Golf & Country Club was voted in the top 50 Parkland Courses in Ireland by "Backspin" Irelands leading Golf magazine in 2013:

Co. Tipperary Golf Club won the Munster Final of the Irish Junior Cup in 2009 and it was on to Tullamore Golf Club for the All-Ireland Semi-Finals where they were drawn against Ulster Champions Malone Golf Club on Wednesday 16th September.

First on the tee was Martin McGrath against Barry Brennan, with first blood going to the men from Belfast with a 3 and 1 win.

He was followed by Ronan Wade who had one-of-those-days when going down to Dan McCrea by 7 and 5. Next up was Cormac Crowe who recorded the first point for Dundrum with a 1-hole win over Ben Brennan. The penultimate match of Michael Moloney against Andy Montgomery saw the match slip away to the eventual All-Ireland Champions with a 3 and 2 win. The bottom match of Michael O'Grady was halved with Jan Gilbert.

However as this was the first Munster pennant for the young club it should be only a matter of time before All-Ireland honours follow.

2005 Lady Captain Kay Cross and her Captain’s Prize winner Ann Maher qualified in the Volkswagen/Irish Independent Lady Captain’s Classic in this scotch foursomes format. It was off to the National Finals at The Heritage Golf Club on Monday 3rd October where they were paired with the Co. Louth pair of Sheila Nelson and Vicki Smyth.

Co. Tipperary won the East Munster Area Final of the Pierce Purcell Shield, when the beat Ballykisteen by 4 matches to 1 match in May 2001.

Arthur Spring, Senior Tour professional, course architect, doctor, father of Graham, brother of Dick and Donal. Continued the Spring family remarkable achievements when he had an Albatross on the 540 yard 13th playing in a Wings Society outing here in September 2001. He holed-out with a 240 yard, 3-wood.

History of County Tipperary

Dundrum House, Built in the early eighteenth century, was the centre of a fine estate once owned by a famous Irish Family; the O'Dwyers of Kilnamanagh. During the terrible period of Cromwellian occupation and confiscation of Ireland in the seventeenth century, Phillip O'Dwyer was the proprietor of the estate at Dundrum; he captured Cashel with his followers in 1641.
This attack on Cashel opened up a campaign in Munster and after a number of battles Phillip O'Dwyer of Dundrum House was sentenced to death. He cheated the gallows however, by dying before the completion of the Cromwellian conquest. The O'Dwyer estate was confiscated and Robert Maude Esq. was given all of Phillip's land including the O'Dwyer Manor and Castle of Dundrum.
The Maude family was of Norman origin and they had conquered Flinstone for William the Conqueror in 1066. The Maude family at Dundrum rose to great eminence, attending to the rank of Viscounts Hawarden and Earls of Montalt in the peerage of the United Kingdom. The family has produced many distinguished soldiers including the famous general Maude, who fought a series of brilliant campaigns in the First World War.
In 1730 the Maude family built Dundrum House with 2400 acres. In 1844 the house was described as a capacious structure standing in the centre of one of the most expensive wooded parks in the country. In 1909, when Dundrum House demesne was put on the open market they were acquired by a religious order, who later established a Domestic Science College. Up to recently the building was used as a noviciate and a retreat house.
Having been acquired by Austin and Mary Crowe in 1978 with extensive renovation and restoration, Dundrum House was opened as a hotel in 1981. Today Austin & Mary welcome you in to relax in spacious elegant rooms and view the tree studied grounds, which have changed little in 250 years.
