The Galtee Inn, located centrally in The Square, Cahir, Co. Tipperary dates back to 1780. Developed around the beautifully preserved 13th century Cahir Castle, the town has many other interesting sites including St Paul's Church of Ireland and remains of an Augustinian Priory. Two kilometers walk along the banks of the River Suir from Cahir Castle is the Swiss Cottage, a delightful 19th century cottage orne, designed by regency architect John Nash. The Galtee Inn is stepped in local history. Cahir's famous Bianconi Coach stop is located to the rear of the premises, our bar tables made from the old Bank of Ireland counter tops and the former bank's doors provide the entrance to the restaurant.
There is a 2 hour Free Parking zone in the Square outside our door and we offer free Wi-Fi for all patrons. The Galtee Inn is a welcoming & recognised stop on The Ireland Whiskey Trail, located centrally between Kilkenny and Cork as well as Limerick and Waterford. It is also close to the historic Rock of Cashel. Whether it is a group calling for a morning coffee, lunch, dinner or you want to taste our famous Whisky and Guiness, you're always welcome in Galtee Inn!
