Founded by Christy McSweeney in 1950 as a small pub, Christy married Peggy Burke from the town land of Boulicullane, Farranfore in 1951. They began developing their town pub into a unique and family run hotel soon after marriage. In 1952 their only son Tony McSweeney was born. Tony took over McSweeney’s in 1990 and is still the present owner and hands on manager.
