A quite townland, nestled under Cushbawn Mountain, it may seem amazing the important part Macreddin played in the political life of our land in days gone by. It was one of the few 17th century Plantation towns established in Leinster. It had a castle on site, was the Headquarters of a Military Deport & Borough and had the privilege of returning two members to the Irish House of Commons in College Green Dublin. Also, near to Macreddin Rock stands the ruin of St. Bridget’s Church, which dates back to the 18th Century and was once a curacy of Rathdrum. Today the area is enhanced by the presence of the Brook lodge Hotel and the spectacular Paul McGinley designed Macreddin Golf Course and with many of Wicklow’s most famed attractions nearby.
Macreddin Rock Bed & Breakfast is a prime location from which to play a number of well known golf courses. In fact it is situated within the midst of the spectacular Paul McGinley-designed Macreddin Golf Course and within half an hour you can also tee off in Woodenbridge, Arklow, Coollattin or Glenmalure.
