Rosemary Kane started Ballyhenry House Bed & Breakfast in 1987, set on a 350 acre working cereal farm in the beautiful Roe Valley. The Farm is managed by Boyd and Michael Kane, Rosemary's sons. Following Rosemary's retirement in Spring 2007, Michael continues to run the family busines and offer the same warm welcome and authentic experience enjoyed by guests who have been staying at Ballyhenry House over the past 20 years.
'The Loft' self-catering apartment was open for business 5 years ago, a lovely 1st floor 3 bedroom holiday home, originally a black stone grain store, with original beams and exposed brickwork. The Loft is ideal for a family with a fully fitted kitchen, living and dining area, bathroom with shower and bath, 2 double bedrooms (1 with shower and sink) and 1 twin bedroom with sink. The Loft overlooks a beautiful private flower garden with mature trees and natural Indian stone patio and BBQ area, leading to signed, paved farm walkways and nature trails.
The house was built in 1898 and has been home to several generations of the Kane family ever since. Michael was busy in 2006 renovating Ballyhenry House, sympathetically restoring some of the original features such as the cornicing in the Drawing room, Dining room and Sunroom, restoring the original woodwork, staircase and stone fireplace, and adding some modern luxuries such as the natural marble ensuite bathrooms to each of the 4 bedrooms.
